Firstsite is to become the new meeting point for the MAZE Group's monthly Colchester coffee mornings. The community group offers courses, support and advice to parents and children with special and additional needs throughout North East Essex.
The first drop-in coffee morning will take place at Firstsite on Monday 22 May. The sessions are open to anyone supporting a child or young person with additional needs. Parents and carers are greeted and supported by an experienced team of Parent Mentors who will help them connect with other parents with similar issues, share their own valuable experiences and provide information and support.
Appointments can also be made during the sessions with visiting professionals, from services such as Family Solutions and EWMHS (Emotional and Wellbeing Mental Health Service). Nurse-led health and wellbeing assessments (Your Life in Your Hands), continence advice (Continence Trainer) and personal appointments with MAZE founder and Executive Director, Sue Anderton, are also available.
Sue Anderton is delighted with the new venue that suits the expansion of the group: "Firstsite offers us a venue that is a good match for the growing needs of the MAZE community - easily accessible, with plenty of space to accommodate social networking and an area for private one-to-one consultations with professionals."
Firstsite Director Sally Shaw says: "Firstsite is delighted to be supporting MAZE and to be providing a space at the gallery where families can meet and support one another and receive professional advice."
